The Best TV Shows of All Time

atkins-bookshelf-moviesMembers of The Writers Guild of America (WGA), which represents writers in the motion picture, broadcast, cable and new media industries, evaluated hundreds of TV shows to come up with their list of the 101 best-written TV shows of all time. The guild focused on exceptional storytelling and writing over the course of the entire series. Guild member Aaron Mendelsohn, who organized the survey, praised the quality of shows on the small screen: “It really is, now, a golden age of TV. There has never been a larger concentration of exceptionally written shows on TV, at least not since the 1970s.” Paul Brownfield, another guild member praises the number one show — HBO’s The Sopranos: “No show has been more responsible for TV’s storytelling renaissance.” Below are the top 20 shows from the list:
